Americans may see a new nickel if a federal legislative proposal becomes law. The Common Cents Act would authorize the U.S. Treasury to consider a new composition for the coin. It passed the U.S. House of Representatives this week and would also formally codify the end of penny production in the country.
Without the penny, the nickel has presumably gained some value. It could also get a new look.
