With highs in the low 40's, it's almost all rain as precipitation begins this afternoon. A few isolated spots in the mountains may see a bit of snow mixing in at times.
A rapidly evolving winter weather system is moving across New York Wednesday, bringing a transition from rain to snow, accumulating snowfall, and sharply colder air for the Finger Lakes and Central New York,
Temps in teens and areas of lake-effect snow impact some roads and may cause local school disruptions. The well-advertised colder and snowier weather pattern has arrived in central Indiana, and we’re already seeing the early impacts as temperatures continue to fall this evening.
Expect a layer of ice to be covered with fresh snow Thursday morning, especially in northern New York and the Champlain Valley, making for tough travel. Temperatures continue to fall throughout Thursday, reaching the teens and 20s by evening commute time, as snow showers linger.
Slick spots on roads are possible Thursday morning. While lowland impacts look limited, the mountains will continue to see significant snow. A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect through 4 p.m. Thursday, with 2 to 4 feet of additional snow likely in the Cascades and at least another foot expected at the passes.
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Winter weather is causing slick roads in the metro area, with snow continuing to fall in the north and east. Spotty snow showers have been reported in the North Valley and Rio Rancho, with some rain mixing in as temperatures hover above freezing. Road temperatures are also above freezing, but caution is advised.
