At Mercy, we use the XR2 Omnicell robot to help distribute medications to all admitted patients. It works by reading the barcodes on the medication order and matching it to the barcode on the medication itself and then dispensing it to a pharmacy technician. The XR2 robot can dispense almost 50% of all medications used in the hospital—an average of almost 1,200 doses each day.
