If a toddler is displaying unwanted behaviour like hitting/snatching etc- we might think we should be demanding they say ‘sorry’ but does this REALLY help the situation? Some children end up thinking their behaviour is acceptable because they said sorry afterwards…they aren’t learning true repair or what we mean by an apology. I think teaching real repair is more valuable to both children in a scenario like this. Real repair looks like learning to think
